Alcácer: “Valencia are keen to renew my contract”

Paco Alcacér, who made his competitive debut for Spain last night, scored his first international goal in the 5-1 win over Macedonia. He spoke after the triumph:

Happy

I’m very happy after the game and for how it went. There’s no better way to start the campaign: winning and scoring a goal.

Goal

When strikers are called up, what we want to give the team is goals. Although it’s also important to work for the team. We hope this will be the first of many.

Congratulations

The ones that meant most to me were from my mother and my brother. I washed the shirt as soon as I got home and now I’ve got it hidden safely away. It’s for me.

Renewal at Valencia

The club are keen to renew my contract and I’m delighted about that. I’d like to be here for many years. I’m quite clear about what I want, which is to be at Valencia for a long time. I want to thank the club for the love they’ve shown me. We’re keen to sort it out as quickly as possible, but right now the main thing is the game against Espanyol.

Negredo

We already knew how good a player he is. Both with Spain and with Manchester City he’s shown he’s a top striker. We’ve got an attack to do great things this year.

Rodrigo-Negredo-Alcácer together in the XI

Why not? We’re three different types of attacking player. We can work well together, though it’s up to the coach to decide. If he goes with the three then great, if he chooses the other two and not me, well I’ll support them from where I can.

Do you feel valued by Valencia?

If I didn’t feel valued I wouldn’t be happy here. They are showing a lot of faith in me, but this is about my statistics and I need to improve them.

Del Bosque

Del Bosque congratulated me for the game and for the goal, but he didn’t say much more to me.

More Valencia players in the Spanish side

Valencia are a top level side, so why shouldn’t more players get called up. I need to put in 100% with Valencia in order to get called up again.

Munir

He looked very relaxed, and it’s important to keep the doors open for the younger players.
