Rodrigo “in the shower” when Alcácer called with the news

Happy days: “This is one of the happiest days of my life. I’ve been through many happy moments but this is something extra special. It’s something I have been hoping might happen for a long time. I may seem quite calm but inside, I am exploding with joy”.

How did you find out about the news? “I was in the shower and Paco Alcácer phoned me. I didn’t know that the list was going to be announced at 12:30”.

Objective: “I just plan to take it all in my stride, with calm. I have had to work very hard to earn a call-up – it’s every player’s dream. I hope it all turns out well for me and I can continue representing the national team”.

Congratulatory messages: “My phone hasn’t stopped; I’ve been receiving phone calls and messages but I haven’t had the chance to reply to any of them yet. I’m very grateful to everyone for all the messages and congratulations that I have received”.
