Del Bosque has now handed Spain debuts to 51 players

On Saturday night, José Callejón and Álvaro Morata became the 50th and 51st players to make their Spain debuts under Vicente del Bosque.

Napoli striker Callejón, who came on during the second half, fulfilled “a dream”. “I am a little bit nervous,” he said earlier this week following his arrival at the national team camp in Las Rozas.

Del Bosque also handed a Spain debut to Morata, who was part of the La Rojita squad that triumphed at the European Under-21 Championship in Israel in 2013.

Spain coach Del Bosque has used 71 players during his 95 matches in charge. Of those who started the match against Belarus, eight (Jordi Alba, Alcácer, Juanfran, Koke, Isco, Piqué, Busquets and Pedro) had made their bows under the former Real Madrid boss.

Bruno, who also emerged from the substitutes’ bench during the win, was also picked for La Roja for the first time by Del Bosque, having made his debut back in 2010.
