"I hope with all my heart that Messi ends his career at Barça"

“I hope with all my heart that Messi ends his career at Barça,” Pep Guardiola told reporters in his pre-match press conference on Monday ahead of Bayern‘s Champions League clash with Manchester City.

“What he’s done is incredible,” Guardiola said. “He has broken a record that everyone thought was unbreakable, a figure which was unreachable – and one which has stood for 60 years. It will take another 600 years before his record is broken”.

Closer to home, Guardiola is hoping Bayern can maintain their 100 per cent record in the group stage against a Manchester City side who need to win both of their two remaining matches to have any chance of progressing. “The Champions League is a highly prestigious competition for all clubs and their coaches. Every match represents an opportunity for us to improve our own game,” the Bayern coach continued, adding that City will be playing to stay alive when the two teams met tomorrow night.
