Penalty from Godín on Vela, but the forward is booked for diving

Real Sociedad claimed a penalty after 22 minutes for a foul on Carlos Vela in the right hand side of the box. The Mexican forward received the ball, turned and headed into the area, where he came upon Godín. The Uruguayan stretched his leg for the ball, but only managed to stand on the striker’s foot.

Vela pleaded for a penalty, but not only did referee Alfonso Javier Álvarez Izquierdo not award one, he booked the forward for diving. Godín made sure he also pointed out to the striker that he had dived.
