Iniesta: "I don’t like hearing the anthem booed at a final"

The Barça player appeared on the 'El Partido de las Doce' radio show on Cadena Cope last night, where he commented on the choice of the Camp Nou, as the venue for the Copa del Rey final in May.

In what way are Luis Enrique and Guardiola similar?

Well, I’d say they are different but they did both have a 24 hours a day dedication to football, constantly looking at ways of improving. They live the game with the same intensity and we’re delighted to be where we are this season.

Do you see Isco as being your natural successor?

I’ve said that many’s a time. He has a great talent that defies his age, he’s playing at a high level for a great team, and he’s young and has a great future ahead of him.

How do you see Casillas’ situation in Madrid?

It leaves a bad taste in my mouth, seeing a team-mate undergoing a situation like that and being the player he is with all he has achieved at the club. That’s who I see it from afar, but it’s not a great situation.

The cup final will be played at Camp Nou. What do you think of that?

I like it. It’s a great venue for the game and more so as we’re in the final too. Cup final day is special, the two sets of supporters have a great time and I hope this year will be the same too.

Do you understand why Real Madrid didn’t want to stage the game at the Bernabéu?

You can understand their logic from a rivalry point of view. It’s not great that your arch enemy gets to celebrate a final in your own stadium. I feel that the solution is to select a venue at the outset of the season irrespective of what teams reach the final.

I imagine you don’t’ like hear the anthem being whistled...

No, I like to see people coming to football matches to have a good time.

Real Madrid – Atlético in the Champions League. One of these teams getting knocked at this stage is good for you?

No. What we’re interested in is getting through to the semi final. We have a tricky tie. PSG proved in the game against Chelsea as to how good a side they are. I’ve no idea how the Madrid-Atlético tie will work out. I do know that we will have a tough contest.

A Barça vs Bayern final?

Let’s see what happens. If we win it, then I’m all for that..

Have you provided an example with the recent good relationship between Barcelona and Real Madrid players?

What happened a few years back wasn’t normal. We all make mistakes and each person will have their own take on the situation. What is positive is the situation these days.

Mourinho got angry, but Guardiola too?

These were tough times during the season and both had great teams and a hunger to win titles with and high levels of both internal and external pressure. It got a little out of control.
