Zidane travels to Munich to learn from Guardiola's methods

Zinedine Zidane packed his suitcase after seeing his side go down 2-1 in Vallecas against Rayo B. The French coach travelled to Munich for a short visit which will see him learn from the methods of Pep Guardiola at Bayern. Zidane will be in the German city until Wednesday, despite his team playing against Las Palmas Atlético at Valdebebas on Sunday (12:00 CET).

Zidane will make the trip looking to increase his coaching knowledge and during a difficult moment as coach of Madrid’s second string. Castilla have suffered four straight defeats (Leoia, Socuéllamos, Huesca and Rayo B) and have fallen to seventh place in Segunda B Group II. While in Munich his assistants David Bettoni and Santi Sánchez have taken control of Castilla training sessions.

Zizou has travelled to Germany with two former colleagues of the French national team in Claude Makelele and Willy Sagnol, current coach of Girondins and former Bayern player. They are also looking to obtain their UEFA Pro Level 3 licence. Other former French players Diomède, Claude Le Roy, Franck Thivilier and Guy Lacombe are also part of the group.

It is not the first time the Castilla coach has travelled abroad to soak up the training sessions of other coaches. In December he travelled to Marseille to see Bielsa and had also previous travelled to Lyon to take part in licence procedures.
