Cerci denies tweeting agreement to join Atlético

It appeared as though Alessio Cerci was finally, pending official confirmation, Atlético Madrid's latest summer signing. The Torino forward made the announcement on his official Twitter account: "Agreement reached with Atlético. Thank you Torino and all the fans for everything."

But shortly afterwards the tweet – which sounded like confirmation that Atlético's pursuit of the Italy international had borne fruit -- was deleted.

Later, on Sky Sports, Cerci flatly denied he had penned the message and promised to seek out the individual responsible, although he recognized that it had been published on his official account. Cerci said he had been playing PlayStation games with Rubén Pérez, his Spanish teammate, at the time the tweet went out. Pérez confirmed, also on the social networking site, that he had indeed been playing on the console with Cerci when the tweet was published.
