Ancelotti: “We’re not having much luck with the ‘FIFA virus’”

In an interview with Italian daily ‘Il Giiornale’, Carlo Ancelotti gave his thoughts on the club’s misfortune with injuries in the international break and the recently-departed: Xabi, Morata and Diego López.

Injuries suffered by Dani Carvajal and Sami Khedira whilst on International duty: “We’re not having much luck with the national teams, it’s been the same story since last year until now”.

Rumours that Xabi Alonso left Madrid to save his marriage: “I wasn’t aware of that”.

Florentino has claimed that the transfers and loan deals have been conducted in agreement with the coach... “That’s right. All of the decisions have been made in accordance with the coach”.

Morata: “I’m curious to see how he gets on in Italy. I know him well and he needs to play regularly because he is still young”.

Marco Verratti taking over from Pirlo: “It’s too early to say whether he will be Pirlo’s replacement but they both play in the same position. He has quality and he needs to make the most of it. He is not afraid of anything or anybody and he has the personality to inherit the role”.

Diego López: “In Madrid he was competing for a place with Casillas; he has decided to take on a new challenge, a different style of football in a different league. He’s a quality keeper and he is hard-working and dedicated. He wanted more stability which is why he left Madrid”.
