Bilbao elected as one of the host cities for EURO 2020

As many had expected, Bilbao was named by UEFA as one of the 13 host cities for EURO 2020 – the first time the tournament will be played in different venues across the continent. Athletic Club’s new San Mamés stadium, which was inaugurated last year, will host three group stage games and one match in the Round of 16. The semi-finals and final will be held in London at Wembley, the quarter finals in Munich, Baku, Saint Petersburg and Rome. The host cities for the group stage and Round of 16 are: Bilbao, Brussels, Copenhagen, Budapest, Dublin, Bucharest, Glasgow and Amsterdam.

Six of the 19 candidates to host EURO 2020 were discarded by UEFA – Cardiff, Jerusalem, Minsk, Skopje, Sofia and Solna.
