Iker Casillas spoke with Canal Plus Liga after yesterday’s win at Villareal. The goalkeeper was happy and was happy to discuss the questions about the rotations in the Madrid number 1 position.
Against Villarreal, a well-earned win: “Coming to El Madrgal is always complicated, the team were solid and when we were under pressure, we worked together to ensure that the pressure was absorbed across the whole team, unlike other games. We came into this game after conceding goals in almost all our games and on this occasion we’ve managed to not let the opposition score which is certainly a positive thing”.
Did Madrid play with more intelligence?: “We were in control here more than other occasions. Last week’s game at Riazor (2-8) was a strange game but I feel we learnt a lesson in Anoeta and need to ensure that a repeat of that doesn’t happen. Not to allow goal scoring chances to our rivals and be well organised. These need to be our two disciplines”.
Should we get used to team rotation?: “Of course, football has changed, the important thing is to know that the coach will always do what’s right in order to give the team the best chance of winning with his decision making process. It’s interesting and ensures that no-one relaxes too much”.
So the goalkeepers will take things on a game by game basis? “That line has already been taken. We’ll focus on matches with a different mentality”
