Four games into the league and Castilla finally have something to smile about. As does Zidane. The coach recorded his first win in charge of Real Madrid’s ‘B’ team after three defeats from the first three games. Today they took advantage of the innocence of modest side Trival Valderas to record a 3-1 win with goals from Burgui, De Tomás and Medrán. Gonzalo got the visitor's goal.
Castilla still showed they have problems though, failing to kill the game off despite have a thousand chances to do so, and Trival’s equaliser in the 49th minute sowed panic in the stands at the Alfredo Di Stéfano stadium. Marcos Jiménez’ side play the ball well, but they lack bite up front, a blessing for Castilla because Palacios had 2-2 on his head in the 90th minute, but he shaded it over... Medrán, in a great break with Burgui, made it 3-1 in the 96th minute, meaning Castilla move off the bottom of what is Spain’s third division.
Zidane and his charges now face four games in a row against sides from the Basque Country: Athletic B, Amorebieta, Barakaldo and Leioa.
