The balance of hegemony between Real Madrid and Barcelona has shifted inexorably towards the capital since Pep Guardiola left the Nou Camp in 2012. Since the current Bayern coach sought pastures new there have been 10 Clasico meetings between the sides and including Saturday's 3-1 home win in the Bernabéu Real have won five. Two of those were in finals; the Spanish Supercup in 2012 under José Mourinho, and the 2014 Copa del Rey final under current manager Carlo Ancelotti. Two of the 10 fixtures have resulted in draws, with the other three in favour of Barça.
The statistic could be not be more contrasting with the Guardiola era, which lasted from 2008 to 2012. In 15 meetings, Real only won twice and lost nine, including during the 2010-11 Champions League semi-final.
Guardiola's Barcelona became an obsession at the Bernabéu. From the first meeting of the sides with Guardiola at the helm in December 2008, when Juande Ramos was in charge at the Bernabéu and Real lost 2-0, Los Blancos went on to be beaten five times on the trot, including a 5-0 drubbing at the Nou Camp. Bernd Schuster, Ramos, Manuel Pellegrini and Mourinho were able to managed just four draws between them, with two victories, both during the Portuguese's reign; the 2011 Copa del Rey final and a 2-1 win in Barcelona that practically assured Madrid their last Liga title. That was Guardiola's final Clasico, after he has won three consecutive La Liga crowns.
During Guardiola's tenure the aggregate score in Clasicos was Barça 33, Real Madrid 15. Since the Catalan coach left the club, Real have scored 21 to Barça's 17.
