Courtois to undergo tests after head injury in Chelsea win

Chelsea goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois was taken to hospital after a nasty clash with Arsenal’s Alexis Sánchez during his side’s 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge on Sunday.

The accident occurred in the 20th minute of the London derby when the former Atlético Madrid goalkeeper came out for a 50-50 ball and the Chile international collided with him while attempting to get out of the way. Courtois was treated on the pitch and bleeding from an ear. He was immediately transferred to hospital where he will undergo tests to determine the extent of his injury.

After the match, Chelsea manager José Mourinho delivered positive news about his number one: “He has been taken to hospital as a precaution but it doesn’t seem to be serious and there is no cause for concern.”
