Hong Kong against Argentina is not a fixture that carries much history but the pair met today and the match ended with an emphatic 0-7 victory for the Argentines. As announced by Tata Martino before the match, Leo Messi was not included in his starting eleven but when he did go out to play he proved that all is well.
Knowing that Luis Suárez scored a brace yesterday for Uruguay against Oman, Neymar scored four for Brazil in a 4-0 victory in Japan, while Messi pulled on his boots and scored twice and he even had time to sign the shirt of a fan who jumped from the stands and on to the pitch.
Five minutes after coming from the bench to replace his friend Pastore, Messi scored his first and grabbed his second soon after. The Barça striker than assisted Gaitán for his second before securing a double of his own six minutes from time with the best goal of the night as the crowd watched on enthusiastically.
Up until then, the game was nothing more than a training exercise for the crowd to watch, but with the risk that some of the Argentine players could be injured. Higuaín (2) and Gaitán (2) also joined in the right after Ever Banega had opened the scoring. Mission accomplished in every way.
