Valdano: "Messi has lost the ability to unbalance"

Former Argentina footballer and coach Jorge Valdano says Barcelona player Lionel Messi “has lost the ability to unbalance” and was surprised by the player’s new position in the Barça team. “He has lost that ability to unbalance in the final third which won matches for Barcelona,” he told Radio Marca.

Valdano admitted he was surprised at the new position of Messi at Barça this season, with his coach Luis Enrique moving him away from the goal. “Rarely in football have I seen a 27-year-old change position so much from one season to another, taking into account that Messi had a tremendous weight at Barcelona not only as a player but as a goalscorer,” he said.
