Heynckes: "I would tell Reus to sign for Real Madrid"

Jupp Heynckes spoke on Sky 90 about Marco Reus’ possible future departure from Borussia Dortmund. Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are the two teams that have shown the most interest in the forward and Heynckes, who has managed both European giants, did not hesitate when it came to naming the club he would advise the player to go.

He said: “I would recommend going to Real Madrid. Bayern have four or five world-class players in their attack. Where would Reus play? If he really has a clause of 25m euros, all of the big teams in Europe should go for him.”

Heynckes was also critical of the fact Reus had been fined 540,000 euros for driving without a license on six occasions.

He added: “It is something incomprehensible. There is no excuse. They should advise him better.”

The German coach also spoke of Toni Kroos’ good form since his arrival at the Bernabéu in the summer.

“Kroos plays at Real Madrid with a lot of class, sovereignty, and also with a sense of calm.”

Heynckes knows the midfielder better than most and the Real Madrid man is one of his favourite players. During the pair's time together at Bayern, Kroos' team-mates called him ‘the son’ of the coach.
