"I’m delighted with Gayà and he’s delighted to be here"

Nuno intended to speak about tomorrow’s visit from Real Sociedad in Saturday’s press conference but that was overshadowed by Real Madrid’s reported interest in defender, José Gayà.

Could Sevilla’s meeting with Atlético on Sunday night be a distraction?

The only game that matters to us is the one that kicks off at midday. That is the only game we have any control over. Real Sociedad go into the match on the back of a good result and they have recognizably improved. We’re at home which cause for us to feel optimistic; our fans will fill Mestalla.

Gayà

Gayà is a Valencia player. He’s happy here and he shows it every day. For him, every game represents a challenge to improve. He’s a charming young man and a serious and dedicated professional. I’m delighted with Gayà and he’s delighted to be here.

Recent record at home to Real Sociedad

We’ve lost the last three meetings but those are only statistics and we want to break that record. What is more important is our analysis of Real Sociedad. They have good players, they are now through their worst moment and they go into the game after a great result last week. We’re focused on our job; we are motivated after reaching 53 points.

Low-scoring strikers

What I see is a team who are co-operative and supportive. The strikers haven’t been scoring freely but we know that it will change. All of our forwards are completely committed.

Negredo

He brings a lot to the team. He knows that he can reproduce his good form at home and he is an important player for us. To be part of a compact team, everyone needs to keep improving.

André Gomes

He had a minor problem and his training programme has been different this week but he is fully recovered. He is an option for tomorrow’s game. The only player who is definitely ruled out is Paco Alcácer.

The Valencia squad:

Alves, Yoel, Cancelo, Barragán, Mustafi, Otamendi, Orbán, Javi Fuego, Gayà, Enzo Pérez, André Gomes, Parejo, Filipe Augusto, Feghouli, Piatti, De Paul, Rodrigo and Negredo.
