Asensio "likely to play with the U-21s" says Del Bosque

Spain coach Vicente del Bosque told reporters in Palma, Mallorca that he has more or less has settled on who will be included in his squad list for this month’s EURO 2016 meeting with Ukraine and the friendly against Holland.

“We’ve got a few players who are out injured; we’ll see what happens but we have got a few days’ margin to complete the list,” said Del Bosque who is in Palma to inaugurate the second football campus which bears his name.

Spain face Ukraine at the Sánchez Pizjuán on 27 March, then play a friendly against Holland at the Amsterdam ArenA on 31 March.

The coach had complimentary words for Mallorca-born players Miguel Ángel Moyà and Málaga’s Sergu Darder but refused to confirm whether either are being considered for a call-up. “Moyà is doing exceptionally well for Atlético and we’ll see which goalkeepers we call; as for Darder, he has also been doing well indeed,” Del Bosque said.

He went on to say that he wasn’t sure whether Marco Asensio, recently signed by Real Madrid but who is continuing on loan at Mallorca, will get a chance with the senior side. “He’s a talented lad, I’m pretty sure that he will be with the Under-21s,” he explained.
