He was tied with Raúl and Messi on 76 before Tuesday night’s match against Schalke and scored twice against the German side. The Real Madrid forward has also overtaken Lionel Messi as the top scorer in the history of the European Cup. (76-75) and he has equalled the Argentine as the leading scorer in the Champions League (75-75).
Tonight’s match also saw Cristiano Ronaldo equal Víctor Valdés, Lampard, Casillas and Xavi as the players with most matches played in the knockout phase of the Champions League with 51. Casillas played his 146th match in the competition.
