Bale a doubt for Eibar match after Amaya's challenge

Gareth Bale is once again an injury doubt for Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti. On this occasion, the Welshman could miss out after he was on the receiving end of a strong challenge from Rayo defender Antonio Amaya in the second half of Real Madrid’s 2-0 win in Vallecas on Wednesday night. The incident occurred as Bale tried to outpace his opponent on the right flank. Amaya arrived late, sliding across the grass like a derailed train. The studs on the defender’s right boot reached Bale’s left ankle. While Bale was hurt, Amaya was booked…

As AS has been informed, Bale woke up on Thursday morning with a swollen ankle. And he is once again facing the same situation that he found himself in before the match against Rayo: 24 hours before a match, he does not know if he will play. In this case, and with the clash against Atlético Madrid in the Champions League on the horizon, Carlo Ancelotti plans to give him a rest.

It was the coach himself who had revealed before the trip to Vallecas that Bale had sustained a minor foot injury in training. It had occurred following a piece of play involving Nacho. Madrid’s medical staff did not emit any part of it. Finally, the Welshman made a miraculous recovery and played until 91st minute, (he has only been substituted seven times in 41 appearances this season) while Isco was named on the bench instead.

With Bale set to be rested, Jesé will have the opportunity to take his place in Real Madrid’s starting XI. Since he made his comeback from injury (December 2) he has managed only 379 minutes of action over the course of 17 matches, none of which he has started.
