The Comité de Competición (Competition Committee) has informed Real Madrid that it has rescinded the yellow card that Cristiano Ronaldo was shown against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday and the Portuguese is now available for Saturday’s visit of Eibar. Referee Mario Melero López booked Cristiano (the forward’s fifth booking of the season, which triggered a suspensión) against Rayo for “falling over in the opposition’s area, pretending to be fouled”, according to the record.
The club sent a statement of allegations with images that showed that the Rayo defender Antonio Amaya toppled the Madrid star inside the area, contrary to what was reflected by the referee in the record. Their arguments have been accepted by the Comité, who rescinded the yellow card. Therefore, Cristiano will start against Eibar on Saturday. Despite the fact that coach Carlo Ancelotti and Cristiano himself were not particularly in favour of appealing against the yellow card that the player received in Vallecas, Real Madrid took the decision to do so because Gareth Bale could miss Saturday’s fixture due to a foot injury.
