Barcelona president Josep Maria Bartomeu spoke after his side’s impressive 3-1 win at Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie on Wednesday night.
Victory: “I have not entered the dressing room, I congratulated Luis Enrique and the coaches. A good match and a good result. The return leg remains but we are going away with big smiles on our faces. All of them played very well, at a very high level. They are increasingly playing better and they are in better shape. They played with intelligence and intensity. When one strives, there are results.”
Optimism: “I will always say what the coaches say. We must be cautious because this is the Champions League. We leave with good goals and a good result, and also with big smiles on our faces.”
Luis Suárez: “The work is done by everyone, I will never assess whether one player has done better than another, some days they score goals and other days, not, but what’s important is the team, as they share the goals and how they play.”
Neymar and his complaints at being subbed off: “I understand that everyone wants to play and contribute, that is good. They are things that stay in the dressing-room, we have a coach that solves things. The coach is always the one who commands, not just in this dressing-room, but in any. We are in a great season, leaders in La Liga, in the final of the Copa and close to the semis of the Champions League. Therefore everyone wants to contribute their grain of sand.”
