Gareth Bale fielded questions from the press on his return to his native Cardiff ahead of the European Super Cup and said that he feels in better shape this year after being able to complete a proper pre-season. The Welshman also opined that it doesn't matter who scores the goals, as long as Real wins the title.
- How does it feel to be back in Cardiff, your hometown?
"It's great to be back home but the most important thing is to win the game and the cup. We need to focus on that and not on me playing in my hometown."
- People have talked about your bulked-up physique. How have you been training?
"I didn't do anything new in particular in the gym. I trained while I was on holiday, a bit of running. It was just conditioning training. I've worked hard in the off-season and feel in good shape."
- Can you see yourself scoring the winning goal in another final, this time in Cardiff?
"I don't get caught up in that sort of thing. The most important thing is to win the Super Cup and it doesn't matter who scores the winning goal."
- You have had a pre-season this year and you're not the new Galactico anymore. What challenges have you set yourself for the season?
"It's nice not to be the new kid [laughs]. It's great to be starting the season and to be settled in, it's much better from my point of view. We want to win every competition we are in, it doesn't matter who we are playing. We will try to win everything."
- This time last year your transfer was pending. Do you feel more pressure playing this final in Cardiff?
"It's a lot easier having a proper preseason under your belt rather than waiting for a transfer to go through. I feel in better shape and can start the season at a better rhythm. I don't feel any pressure by being back home, it's another game and another one I have to put 110 percent into to perform at my best."
