"I’ll keep my opinions to myself because now is not the time"

Sergio Ramos spoke to reporters on his arrival at Spain's training base in Las Rozas on Tuesday. The defender said he is eager to be a part of a new era for La Roja and was questioned about the national team's future and Cristiano Ronaldo's words a day earlier.

New La Roja: "I don't think it's a matter of changing our image. The national team has always had its own identity and we shouldn't change that even though there are players that left the team."

New players: "We [the senior players] are here to help so that they fit in in the best way possible, but at the end of the day we're all here to play and do things well."

Casillas conversations: "Iker and me have been friends for many years and we're very comfortable talking to each other. We make our conclusions but they stay in Iker's car."

Ronaldo: "Everyone has their own opinion and that should be respected. I'm not going to assess what Cristiano or any other player says. We belong to a club and that's that. I'll keep my opinions to myself because now is not the time. We belong to Madrid and we should follow their rules."

Alonso-Xavi departures: "Both of them have been very important for Spain, they were key to the successful years but we mustn't forget that there is a new generation coming through with a lot of quality and enthusiasm."

Chicharito: "Everything he can bring to the team will be good for us. He is a player recognized at international level who can bring things to the team."
