Concern at Sevilla over Ebola threat to Mbia with Cameroon

The international matches take place over the coming days and Stephane Mbia has travelled to Cameroon to play against Sierra Leone. There has been concern within the Sevilla squad over the fear of Ebola and the club doctor has admitted that the player himself has asked about it.

However, Juan José Jiménez says there should be no panic about it. “There should not be any alarm to the public. The matches are not being played in Sierra Leone. They are in Cameroon. And Cameroon is not a country at risk. It is true we do not know the origin of all the members of the technical staff of Mbia’s national team, but what we also have to take into account is the contact between the players. If FIFA have detected something, with the medical conditions, they would have prevented this match from being played. And they have not.”

About Cameroon, he was clear: “Mbia has been worried because he knows that nobody is immune to the disease. But there is calm from the club.”
