Fábregas: "Casillas is a great team-mate and a great captain"

General feelings: “In these difficult moments, we need to isolate ourselves from what’s being reported in the media. Now, more than ever we need to be more united. What certain journalists report is the opposite of what we need. In this post-World Cup era, we’ve played three games and it feels like we’ve played twenty. In all three, we’ve played in a different way. Now results haven’t gone our way and people start to make opinions. Football is not straight forward”.

Casillas: “We know who Iker Casillas and there’s not too much to add. All the Madrid based journalists know how he is. He’s strong and defends his team 100%. He’s a great team-mate and captain. When things don’t work out for you as normal, then you’re not as normal, but there is no need to over-dramatise. He’s experienced enough to take stock of this situation. He’s fine and aware that we al need to improve from the last game”.

Criticism: “We left Madrid and you could count on one hand those players who hadn’t been criticised. We had a bad game which should now be past-tense and it’s time to move on. Everything gets over-scrutinised and the country’s expectations need to be managed”.

Luxembourg: “We’ve seen a recent video. They’re an organized team and are not afraid to attack. We should have more space than against Slovakia and we should control things in attack and be tight defensively”.
