Cerci refutes claims: “I haven’t turned anyone down”

Alessio Cerci, whose switch to AC Milan will free up Fernando Torres’ move to Atlético, has denied that he has sealed his exit from the Vicente Calderón. “As always, whenever I read news about me, all I see is information which isn’t true. I haven’t turned anyone down and nor have I signed anything with anyone. I am an Atlético de Madrid player and I am considering the best option for both parties,” the player wrote on his Facebook account this morning.

In Italy, Sky Sports Italia and journalist Gianluca Di Marzio both claim that Cerci has give the thumbs up to AC Milan. Atlético sources have told Diario AS that the operation is not yet closed: “We still have not received the go-ahead from Cerci,” they have told us.

Cerci arrived in the Spanish capital on 1 September to join the Rojiblancos but he has not featured as much as he had hoped. The forward had made nine appearances with Atleti – six in the Liga BBVA, one in the Copa del Rey and two in the Champions League in which he has scored just once, in the 5-0 win over Malmö on 22 October.
