Khedira spends the night in hospital as a precaution

German footballer, Sami Khedira, was admitted to hospital last night after suffering a severe blow to the chin during the Spanish cup game for his club side, Real Madrid against Cornellá. Carlo Ancelotti, the Real Madrid coach, confirmed after the game that Khedira would spend the night in hospital as "a precautionary measure". "It’s only a blow and we hope that he’s fine tomorrow", added the Italian coach.

The incident happened during the second half, when Khedira challenged for a high ball with an opposition player and both players collided. The German player needed medical attention and although he returned to play again, he needed to be substituted subsequently as he was feeling dizzy.

Real Madrid made it through to the next round of the Spanish Cup after a 5-0 over a Cornellá side that play in the third tier of Spanish football.

To avoid potential risks, Ancelotti was advised by his medical team to make the change and the Germans replacement was Jesé, returning after a 258 absence from first team football.
