Fernando Torres is likely to make the first appearance of in his second stint with Atlético against Real Madrid. The striker will be available and ready to start work once the paperwork relating to his transfer to Atlético is finalized and while the window transfer window opens on 1 January in Spain, the inscription period in Italy opens four days later on 5 January. That means that Torres cannot officially complete his move back to the Calderón until after Atlético’s 2015 opener against Levante on 3 January.
The 30-year-old, who is currently on holidays, is expected in Madrid on Monday 29 December when the rest of the Atlético squad are due back in work.
Torres will be available for the Copa del Rey first leg meeting with Real Madrid at the Calderón on 7 January although it remains to be seen whether he will figure in the starting line-up or on the bench. Torres has made just 10 league appearances with AC Milan this season, scoring once. He has not featured at all since the 1-1 draw in the derby against Inter on 23 November.
