Ancelotti named best club coach of 2014 by IFFHS

Carlo Ancelotti was named the best club coach of 2014 on Wednesday by the International Federation of Football History and Statistics. The Real Madrid coach picked up the award for the second time after seven-year hiatus and joins managerial heavyweights such as Carlos Bianchi, Marcelo Lippi, Alex Ferguson, Pep Guardiola and Ottmar Hitzfeld.

The Italian tactician, with 169 points overall, was the clear winner of the vote among experts and journalists from around the world, backed up by Real Madrid's four titles in 2014. Ancelotti's was the fourth IFFHS award handed to Real Madrid this year, adding to best club of 2014, Cristiano Ronaldo's highest scorer in international competitions award and Toni Kroos' gong as best playmaker.

Atlético coach Diego Simeone was second with 139 points after leading his side to the league and the Champions League final and Guardiola third with 76 points after Bayern Munich's domestic double.

Unai Emery came in fifth behind José Mourinho after leading his side to Europa League glory against Benfica.
