"I know there were offers but I never had any doubts"

Valencia and Paco Alcácer held a press conference on Wednesday to discuss the Spain striker's contract renewal, which ties the player to Mestalla until 2020.

How do you feel after renewing?

"I'm very proud to be at Valencia and more so having been at this club since I was a kid. I'd like to thank Valencia because they made a great effort to get to this point. I'm very happy to be here for five more years."

Is it a weight off your shoulders now that you've signed?

"Not really, because both sides wanted the same thing. We both wanted to continue.

You're the first Valencia player to have a release clause of 80 million euros...

"That makes it's an honour that the club wants me as much as I want to be here. It's satisfying to have that release clause. What I have to do is concentrate on my game, improve day by day and give Valencia fans reasons to be happy."

Your job is to score goals. Can you imagine scoring in a final?

"I hope so. Everything takes time and I think that we'll get there and hopefully sooner rather than later."

Did you listen to any other offers?

"I never had any doubts. Every time I came into the club offices my answer was the same. Since I was young I've been coming to the stadium to watch the team and for me it's a dream come true. Now I want to make more happen."

Do you feel a responsibility being the focal point of this project?

"A good kind of responsibility. Every year I have to improve and become an important player. What is important is not to have the weight of doing it all myself. We are all equal, nobody is more important than anyone else."

Where do you see the team going between now and 2020?

"This year we have a team that is capable of doing what we want to achieve, which is getting into the Champions League. We also want to do well in the league and other competitions. Valencia has a bright future."

Now that you signed on, do you expect more playing time?

"That's for the manager to decide. We have four strikers and he has the final word. If I'm not in the team it's because other players are better than me but I won't let my head drop. It gives me motivation."
