Only 400 tickets left for Thursday’s Copa del Rey derby

Real Madrid’s plan to overturn a 2-0 deficit in Thursday’s Copa del Rey return leg is already underway. A packed Bernabéu will watch Ancelotti’s team and Atlético scrap it out for a place in the quarter finals; Saturday’s win over Espanyol has restored confidence within the Madrid camp and as of yesterday, only 400 tickets for the Thursday’s decider were left unsold.

Madridistas believe their team can turn the tie and set up a meeting in the next round with Barcelona, who take a five-goal advantage into their return leg against Elche. But another factor in ensuring the team will have ample support from the stands has been the economy-price tickets. In the most recent league derby, ticket prices ranged from 70 to 235 euros but in the Cup, the club has lowered entrance fees to suit all budgets with tickets ranging from the cheapest at 35 euros to the most expensive at 95. Those prices are lower than last year’s tie against Atlético at the Bernabéu which ranged from 40 to 140 euros.

Álvaro Arbeloa has already called for support from madridistas; the defender uploaded a video on social networking sites with the hashtag #remontada (comeback). Varane and Dani Carvajal also stressed the importance of the game after the weekend win, the French centre-back saying: “When we feel our fans getting right behind us, it motivates us even more”.
