Carlo Ancelotti will know today if he can count on Sergio Ramos and Marcelo to face Valencia at the Mestalla on Sunday. Both will be tested in training to see if they have overcome their physical problems. The Brazilian suffered a muscle injury in his left leg in the final of the Club World Cup and since then he has exercised apart from the group. He returned from the Christmas break on December 27, one day before the rest of his team-mates, in order to hasten his recovery ahead of the key fixture at the Mestalla.
Ramos, for his part, sustained a knock in the semi-final of the Club World Cup and forced himself to play in the final against San Lorenzo. The centre-back hopes to play on Sunday.
Jesé will be called
Jesé was one of the few players that escaped criticism following Tuesday’s friendly defeat against AC Milan. The youth-team graudate showed that he had taken advantage of the Christmas holidays to continue improving his fitness and he produced a good performance in Dubai. As such, Ancelotti will call him up for a Liga match squad for only the second time this season. The forward could feature in the top flight for the first time this season.
