Xavi is a doubt for the game against Atlético on Sunday

After last night’s cup win against Elche, the FC Barcelona first team carried out a recovery training session this morning. The focus is on Sunday’s important game against Atlético Madrid at Camp Nou (ko 2100 CET) and everything points to Luis Enrqiue’s side being without Xavi Hernández.

Xavi, who missed the Copa del Rey game due to a muscle strain in his soleus will train again on Saturday, when the club medical staff will make a decision on the players availability for the Sunday game.

It also seems unlikely that French player, Jérémy Mathieu will make the squad list for the game. The defender is still troubled with a pain in his Achilles and despite training with the rest of the Barça squad this morning, the player has yet to get his official medical all clear from the Catalan club’s doctors.
