Suppose, and I think that it will be the case, that the Federation decides to go with the desire of the two cup finalists to play at the Bernabéu. Suppose that Florentino contests the decision politely and firmly, saying that Madrid feel honoured by being chosen, but that he is convinced that large section of the fans in attendance will whistle the national anthem and the King. Suppose that conditions are set for a joint appeal of the two presidents, Urrutia and Bartomeu, to the fans, calling for the correct behaviour towards symbols of the Spanish nation.
Suppose that they do. In this case Madrid would do well in giving up their home. If the fans follow the call for respect or not, something would have won: an unequivocal statement from the two clubs. In the worst case, the whistles would be fewer and the crazy ones would be picked out. Suppose now that they don’t have that call for respect and that the words of Artur Mas (a Catalan politician who publically said "don't be surprised if the anthem is whistled) ring true. Well, in that case Florentino would do well not to allow the stadium to be used and to refer the matter to Valencia or Sevilla, or wherever they will look to go. Madrid will not allow their home to be used if there is no call for good behaviour.
Because this national anthem, one that Mas would not be shocked to hear whistles, could now be whistled the home that Barça and Athletic have specifically asked for the final. As much as a sense of fun for large groups of both clubs it is to whistle the national anthem (and both have done in recent tests), they dislike a large majority of Madrid and Madrid fans. I would like Florentino to make the proposal for Urrutia and Bartomeu to distance themselves from Artur Mas. But I do not have much hope. It seems like there are more problems than solutions.
