Laurent Perrin, a journalist at the French newspaper ‘Le Parisien’, stated during a chat organised by his publication that Paris Saint-Germain are scouring the market in search of a replacement for Zlatan Ibrahimovic, whose contract expires in 2016. He believes Barça’s Brazilian star is best placed to succeed the Swede. “Neymar is PSG’s No.1 target,” said Perrin.
Ibrahimovic will be 35 years old by the time his contract finishes and it seems unlikely that he will extend his contract with the club which is run by Nasser Al-Khelaifi. Therefore, the Ligue 1 team find Neymar’s youth to be the perfect counterpoint. He is a player who will be 24 next year, one with a long road ahead and one with aspirations of being the best player in the world. A sound investment.
But for the French journalist Neymar is not the only target. “[If] Messi made himself available, they would not hesitate to go for him,” Perrin said. According to Perrin, there is no doubt that PSG would give him everything that he wants, but nonetheless, he put emphasis on the importance of the Argentinian’s willingness to leave Barcelona.
He added: “Leo will be 29 years old in 2016 and knows that they would pull out the red carpet for him and fulfil him with gold. Everything would depend on him.”
