Sergio Ramos' Real Madrid contract renewal is in neutral

Lack of communication builds a wall which is often difficult to break down. Real Madrid and Sergio Ramos currently find themselves at that point with regards to the extension of the defender’s contract, which finishes in 2017 (when he will be 31). The most recent conversation between the two parties took place six months ago, although it involved the player’s brother and agent René, not the defender himself. There is no climate of confidence. But the club have set a list of task in which Ramos’ contract renewal does not occupy a prominent place. The reverse. He was one of the four best defenders in the world in 2014 according to FIFA. The cache of those players is far from his: Thiago Silva (€12m salary), David Luiz (€11m salary) and Philipp Lahm (€10m salary). But for the footballer, the economic question is not vital.
