Cristiano Tello, the Spanish winger who is on loan at Porto from Barcelona, has suffered a torn muscle in the back of his right leg, according to Porto’s medical team. This injury is expected to force him to miss the Champions League quarter-final matches against Bayern Munich.
The player had to withdraw from his side’s training session on Sunday, but the extent of his injury has only just been confirmed.
This type of tear usually requires a recovery period of three to four weeks, so in addition to the two-legged tie against Bayern Munich he could also miss the key league fixture against Benfica, which is scheduled for April 26.
Tello, who did not appear in Porto’s match against Estoril on Monday, sustained a similar injury in the same part of his right leg at the start of the season.
