Diego Costa: "Controversy? I do not like being in the middle"

Diego Costa wants to score his first goal with the Spanish national side and this is his objective in the two forthcoming games against Slovakia and Luxembourg. The Spanish-Brazilian striker wanted to shy away from the controversial comments made by José Mourinho about his inclusion in the squad and says he is getting physically better all the time. “I had some problems but I’m getting better. I am better. The coach knows that I had some problems during the week. I have put up with this but I’m getting better all the time, I hope I don’t have a problem.”

The controversy between Mourinho and Spain: “I don’t like to be in the middle [of it]. What I want most is to succeed here. So far it has not gone too well and I want to do well here. I have not scored, nor have I had many chances. There is work to do for the first goal but it makes me excited.”

Chances in front of goal: “When there is an opportunity, I will be there.”

His adaption to life with Chelsea: “Things are going very well. I’m very happy.”

The push from Wenger on Mourinho: “I don’t think he has an injury.”

Did Mourinho say anything to him before he travelled?: “The coach has not said anything to me. The decisions are the ones that I take. Although the coach and the coaching staff too. If I get injured in the game it will be worse but if I do I am not going to feel bad about it.”

His absence against Macedonia: “There are times what you can play with risk. So I did not play against Macedonia, for example. You have to be careful. With Atlético my injury had not healed, but bit by bit I am getting much better.”

His linking with Cesc: “It is going very well with him but I have to find that connection here as well. He is very talented, we know each other quite well and hopefully we can create a lot of goals together.”

Atlético: “It is hard to speak about this. I was very happy there. Many players have left and I hope that they do not miss me too much.”
