Sergio Ramos is almost certain to be ruled out of Real Madrid’s league match against Levante on Saturday because of a muscle injury detected in his right leg after meeting up with the Spanish national squad last week.
The Madrid defender returned to Valdebebas for treatment from the club physiotherapists and looks to rest this weekend ahead of the following games against Liverpool and Barcelona. The club doctors do not want to risk the player and if he is not at 100 per cent for the trip to Anfield on Wednesday, October 22 he will not feature because the priority is to get him in perfect condition for the Clásico on Saturday, October 25 at 18:00 (CET).
Furthermore, Casillas, Carvajal and Chicharito were not at the training session after getting permission from the club not to be there today due to their international travel commitments.
Portuguese defender Fabio Coentrao, who is in the process of recovering from a sprained knee that kept him out of matches with the national team, trained separately on the pitch.
After enjoying a few days of holiday, before the mass exodus of international players for matches that run up until this Tuesday, the few Madrid players that remained returned for a training session led by manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Taking part in the session were Marcelo, Nacho Fernández, Alvaro Arbeloa and Asier Illarramendi, as well as a young goalkeeper from Juvenil A, Marcos Lavín. The session included ball movement drills and target shooting, as reported by the club.
On Tuesday a new afternoon session is planned (17:00), which is expected to incorporate some of the international players to prepare for this weekend’s league match against Levante on Saturday.
