Suárez is ready: He scores twice in Uruguay win over Oman

Luis Suárez has returned to the goal path for his national side. The striker scored two of Uruguay’s three goals against Oman, which La Celeste won 0-3 against their weak opposition. The hosts held on well in the first half but crumbled after the break, exhausted by the movement of the Barcelona striker. Suárez only got one sight of goal in the first half and he collided with the opposition goalkeeper.

In the second half, Uruguay unleashed their storm. In the 56th minute, he took a measured pass from Rolán and fired an unstoppable shot into the back of the net. He could have grabbed a second eight minutes later but did not take his chance. It did not take him long to double his tally, however, and he did so with a beautiful strike. A long ball was sent forward and although Suárez was under pressure from a defender, he controlled the ball beautifully and struck his shot over the goalkeeper.

In the 79th minute he made way for Stuani, somewhat bruised by the kicks he received from the Oman defenders. In the 86th minute Jonathan Rodriguez completed the victory for Uruguay with the third goal.

Suárez has not found the net for his national team since the World Cup in Brazil, when he scored a double against England to ultimately help Uruguay qualify for the knockout stages. At Barcelona he has only been involved in training sessions and a friendly match against Indonesia U19s, which Barça won 6-0 and Suárez also scored twice.
