Ander Herrera: "I have never been involved in match-fixing"

Ander Herrera, current Manchester United player, used his Facebook profile to share a communique to give his version against the claim that public prosecutor, Alejandro Luzón has presented against Real Zaragoza.

“My name has appeared in the legal process that involves Real Zaragoza, a club that I had the privilege to play for between the ages of 12 and 22 . My name appears in the 41 names on the implicated list. Before the process commences, I’d like to state that I have never been involved in the manipulation of any result in any game of football. If called up, I will testify before the justice system as my conscience is clear. I love the game of football and firmly believe in fair-play on and off the field of play”.

It’s probable that the midfielder will have to declare at the Preliminary Investigation Court in Valencia as his name appears on the list of players who received a quantity of money in his account between the 17th-19th of May 2011. Herrera later, made two withdrawals which the fiscal will cite as part of the case.

All of the accused if found guilty can face sanctions ranging from six months to four years in prison and a total ban on sporting activities, from one to six years.
