'The cup should be one game at the smaller team's ground'

Luis Enrique spoke to members of the assembled press at the Camp Nou after his team had beaten Huesca 8-1 in a straightforward win.

What did you take from the game: “I’d say the whole team can take credit for their performance. I was pleasantly surprised to that that a good number of fans came to the game and the player’s response was of a high level. It was a straightforward game for us with every respect to our rival. It was a good opportunity to look at other players".

Montoya, played for 90 minutes: “He got to play as a result of his hard work in training and I’m aware of the capacity he has as a player. I know him well. He took full advantage of his opportunity”.

Defensive frailties: “I think we played an excellent game from a defensive point of view. Huesca didn’t play like a team from 2B but more like a team from a higher category. I liked they way they moved and linked up their play”.

Adama: “You know what will happen now? Everybody will jump to conclusions after him playing for just five or ten minutes. He will move to the first team at some point”.

Wouldn’t the format of the cup be better with just one game? That’s the way it should be, but unfortunately I don’t make the rules. I’d prefer it that way and it certainly wouldn’t be a problem”

Abidal may announce his retirement next Friday: “I never had the opportunity to share the dressing room with him. He’s a person who all Barça players and fans have a great deal of admiration for. His retirement is a natural progression”.
