Cornellà are on their way Madrid

The UE Cornellà squad are making their way to Madrid where they take on Real Madrid tomorrow in the Spanish Cup. This morning the team met up in at 07:30, outside the club offices with the intention of setting off at 0800 to make the 600 plus km journey to Madrid.

Cushions, headphones, kit and a team bus full of anticipation. “Our objective is to enjoy ourselves”, commented Óscar Muñoz, the goalscorer from the first leg which ended in a 1-4 win for Madrid. Someone was missing from the squad. “Where is Marc Caballé?” asked one of the players. “We called him but his pone is switched off”. The minutes ticked by and at 08:30, team coach, Jordi Roger made the decision to leave without the player.

Finally just as the coach was about to leave, the player made contact complaining of problems staring his car and subsequent traffic he encountered. Caballe lives in Ripoll, a town some 112 kilometers from Cornellà. Caballé, finally met up with the squad before 09:00 fortunate to have just made the traveling expedition and having to endure the jokes from his team-mates. The Catalan squad are expected to arrive in the Spanish capital this evening shortly before 1700.
