Jérémy Mathieu appeared in front of the press on Thursday to speak about Barcelona's recent run of form and admitted that Leo Messi and Luis Enrique had had a falling-out on the training pitch.
Barcelona are finding form just as the important part of the season is coming up...
"It's true that we have managed to get out of the small crisis that was affecting us until recently. Barça is running on all engines and I hope that we continue to do so. The manager rotates a lot and all of the players are very involved with this project. Luis Enrique doesn't marginalize anyone. This system works well for us. We are all really happy with him.
What has changed? Was there a dressing room summit to iron out the problems?
"A few truths were spoken to improve the situation. There was a bit of friction between Leo and the boss. These are things that happen at any team from time to time. The good ting is that the boss knew how to deal with it and everything is back to normal now. On top of that the wins have come at a good time and that also helped us a lot.
You mentioned tension. Was it a bust-up? What happened?
"Above all it was a training session at the beginning of the month. Just after the Christmas holidays. All of a sudden, because of a foul that the manager didn't give in a training match Messi lost it a little bit and there was a bit of friction between them. What needed to be said was said. Luis Enrique spoke to Leo afterwards in the dressing room and they sorted it all out. As I said, these things happen at any club because it's Barcelona everything gets blown out of all proportion and gets a lot of coverage.
How are you feeling after your injury?
"I'm much better. The team has functioned well without me but I'm ready to fight to convince the manager that I deserve to play."
