Quique: "We can’t just defend for 90 minutes”

With just one day to go until his side faces Real Madrid in La Liga, Getafe coach Quique Sánchez Flores expressed his desire to see the best possible side turn up in the Coliseum Alfonso Pérez. “We want to beat the best Real Madrid. If you approach the game thinking about the players that will be missing and not about playing against the best, you'll show your weakest side. We have to think that Madrid will come with their best players and will demand one hundred percent from us. When the game is over, leaving the result aside, we have to go back into the dressing room knowing we were competitive and gave everything,” he said.

“We want to perform and we’re excited about that. Playing against one of the elite sides to me always seems like a good chance to show things, both for the trainer and the squad”, he added.

“We’ll try to make sure we expose their weaknesses and get a good result to strengthen our belief and virtues. Of course, we’ll have to be clever to tap into these weaknesses,” he insisted.

“We have to work as a collective. We can’t go into the game thinking we’re going to defend for 90 minutes,” he concluded.
