Anderlecht beat reigning champions Barcelona 1-0 on Monday to qualify for the quarter-finals of the UEFA Youth League. Anderlecht will face Porto, who beat Madrid last week, in the last eight.
A solitary goal from Aaron Leya after 53 minutes gave the Brussels team victory over the Catalans, who can no longer defend their title.
Anderlecht’s opponents in the last eight will be Porto, who defeated Real Madrid’s young guns on penalties last week after the match at Valdebebas finished 1-1 in normal time.
On top of Anderlecht and Porto booking their places in the quarter-finals, Atlético Madrid and Shakhtar Donetsk are also through after defeating Arsenal and Olympiacos respectively.
Atleti ensured their progression on January 27 by beating the Gunners 1-0 and on Monday Shakhtar sealed their ticket t the last eight with a penalty shoot-out success against the Greeks.
The matches still to be played in the last-16 are Chelsea-Zenit, to be played on Wednesday, and Benfica-Liverpool, Manchester City-Schalke and Ajax-Roma, who all play on Tuesday.
