As previously stated by Barcelona, Sergio Busquets renewed his contract with the club until 30 June 2019, with the option for a further season after that. The contract was signed at 13:00 (CET) Friday lunchtime in the club’s offices.
The new deal for Busquets now sees him as one of the biggest earners at the club, alongisde the likes of Iniesta and Xavi.
“I’m 26 and I’ve got a lot ahead of me here at Barça. I hope the injuries treat me well and with my work and the team's work I hope we can keep the same dynamic we've had since I’ve played in the first team,” the midfielder said.
Busquets also stressed how much he would like to hang up his boots at Barcelona and follow the example of team-mates Xavi, Puyol and Iniesta: “The most important thing is to feel at home. For me that’s vital and I’m happy; it’s my lifelong club” he said.
