Elche limit the number of tickets for Madrid fans

Elche’s Estadio Manuel Martínez Valero will welcome Real Madrid on Sunday in La Liga. The club expects a sell-out for the visit of the current Liga leaders and European champions and to meet demand they will make as many seats as possible available as to home supporters. Madrid fans were set to be allocated 2,000 seats for the match but the timing (Sunday at 21:00 CET) and the high prices will see fewer fans than usual make the trip.

Elche have therefore allocated 500 seats for Madrid fans, who will have to pay 50 and 55 euros. Home fans have to go through the box office to get their tickets and members can buy theirs for a reduced price of between 15 and 40 euros. For non-members the prices range from 50 to 90 euros. As well as reducing the away fans’ area, Elche have also removed sections that separate home and away fans in order to maximise capacity, with 33,000 expected on Sunday night.

The objective for Elche is to make 900,000 euros from the box office, plus extra revenue from advertising, Money that will help the financially-hit club. They will receive no more money from television rights, however, with that money going top ay off a loan of six million euros. Elche need to make another payment to meet the demands set out by the tax office, social security, the squad, employees and creditors.
